Hi! I’m Hayley Hutson
I’m a Charlotte-based content strategist and travel writer who helps destinations, tourism agencies, and wellness brands tell stories that inspire exploration and connection.
I believe great content should invite people in and inspire them to take action. That’s why I blend strategic SEO with genuine storytelling to help your brand show up online and stand out for all the right reasons.
But let’s talk about how I got here…
Growing up just outside Washington, D.C., I developed a love for history, culture, and storytelling early on. Whether it was a short story, song, or poem, I was always most comfortable expressing myself on paper. It was no surprise to anyone when I started college at Old Dominion University (go Monarchs!) and chose Communications as my major. I was allergic to taking the usual route, so it was also unsurprising when I made a few detours to intern at Disney World and on the Foreign Affairs & Defense team for a U.S. senator.
I’m forever grateful for my relentless need to do things differently—without it, I wouldn’t be where I am today.
After college, I moved to Charlotte and applied for every content writing gig I could find but couldn’t convince anyone to take a chance on me. Luckily, I landed a property management role that let me flex my writing muscles in unexpected ways. But when the pandemic hit and I was left with nothing to fill my time, I discovered the world of freelance writing. I stumbled across a Fiverr tutorial one day, and boom—the lightbulb went off.

Was a career I could build on my own terms, without waiting for corporate gatekeepers to give me a chance.
I spent the next several months learning everything I could about SEO, content writing, and succeeding as a content writer. I had never felt more fired up about anything in my life. Before I knew it, I was writing for businesses across the globe: travel agencies in the UK, food bloggers in Cyprus, and home service brands in Australia. The freedom, variety, and thrill of seeing brands come to life through my words were unlike anything else. Two years in, I left my corporate gig to go full-time as a freelance content writer, and it was the best move I’ve ever made. And that was just the beginning.
Today, I have bylines in Business Insider, Travel + Leisure, Viator, Matador Network, and more.
I’ve had the privilege of working with publications and brands in 20+ countries, crafting everything from blog posts and landing pages to social media content, emails, and e-books. The best part of what I do? No two days are ever the same.
